The Black Project
The Film Begins at Something like Area 51, with a couple of low level operators working in a large industrial area with flying saucers stored and piled up around them. They are sitting at drafting tables and their supervisor comes over to check up on what they’re working on. They reveal that they’ve been performing extensive diagnostics on Some of their captured flying saucers and other interdimensional objects that they’ve come across, and have developed a method by which they can build a time machine. This sort of project has been proposed many times before, and they never work out. Like ESP and Cold Fusion, All the work done with Time Travel suggests that it may be possible, but they can never seem to really nail it down. But now; These engineers and their supervisor, built a proof of concept prototype and are convinced that this new approach will really work this time. They show their prototype to their supervisors and some other engineers and receive mixed reviews. A few of the most critical engineers point out that this approach was tried about 6 years ago, and nearly destroyed the southern united states, Disaster was so narrowly averted in that case that there was extensive talk that all their captured flying saucers and other materials should be buried in a 12 mile deep hole that they had access to, and any attempts to back engineer incomprehensible technologies should be forever forbidden. The elemental idea of playing with grownup toys was pure insanity. That hysteria was shelved, but The Governmental Administrators that fund and supervise their Black Projects has been Very Conservative Since then. The Engineers in Favor of this new Time Machine project were convinced that it was a substantially different approach and fought for it’s funding. Unfortunately; The price tag for the basic research and development of tools to build the time machine would be at least One Trillion Dollars.
All further attempts to seek funding for it was met with a cold shoulder.
Then A Brilliant New Tactic was Suggested by one of the Supervisors that believed in this Time Machine, which they were Very Enthusiastic About. The Basic Idea was: What If : They Obtained the funding by some process which would very nearly destroy the world, but it would be OK, Because once they got the time machine working, They could simply go back in time, Avert This Disaster, Creating a New Time Line in Which They would have Both Their Time Machine and Completely Avoided The Scheme to Raise Their Funding that Nearly Destroyed the World !
All Previous Limited Experiments with Time Travel Showed that All The Inane Paradoxes were Mysteriously Bogus, In that It was Perfectly Possible to Go back and Kill your Grandfather as a Young Boy, And Return to A Substantially Changed Future ( Your Starting Reference Time Period ) And Still Exist. You would be totally lacking parents or A Past, But you would exist as a Perfectly Stable Bubble Anomaly. Numerous Bubble Anomalies of this kind had been thoroughly Identified, Proving ( ? ) to many of these Chronological Researchers that Time Travel was Possible. Critics of this research have offered numerous alternative explanations for these bubble anomalies, but their explanations & rationalizations were often far more improbable than allowing for time travel, or presupposed a universe in which time travel, although not the cause of the bubble anomaly, would necessarily have to allow for time travel as an incidental property.
The Plan that were sure would work was to create A War on Terror, by making the public believe that an attack by an international terrorist group was attacking the united colonies. In order to do this, they had to control the world news media outlets, and blow up some buildings, but they had all the resources in place to do this fairly easily. They then used low level sleeper agents in the creamy house to manipulate policy makers to make all the worst imaginable decisions to invade other countries and completely destroy them, creating essentially world wide chaos...
Which in this atmosphere of economic collapse, they would simple skim their 1 Trillion Dollars off the top of a Budget far exceeding that.
They then clear a space at Area 51 and begin working on their time machine.
Unfortunately; They discover that their critics were right, and it won’t work. They have destroyed the world, and are unable to go back in time and fix it.
