The Bitternuts
A Husband & Father wakes up one morning, has breakfast with his family of 7, everyone goes off except him. He tells his wife that he’s taking a day off to get some important things done around The house.
Then he kills all The pets, burns family albums & important family papers & his own journals.
He picks up The youngest children from day care, takes them home & drowns them in The bathtub.
When The older children come home, he murders each in their own way.
When his wife comes home, she discovers all The bodies & goes a little catatonic, hinting that she’d seen this coming for some time. He guides her nearly cooperative zombic body to The garage & hangs her—
Then sets The house on fire & drinks a concoction of several drain cleaners.
Unfortunately; The fire doesn’t take & when The fire department arrives, he is still alive & is taken to The hospital where he is operated on. It looks like he’s going to survive, but by The end of The day, he dies of a foolish nursing oversight.
Everyone is now dead.
But this is only The first Quarter of The Film.
The Rest is how The Ghosts interact with one another,
How The Father finds his way home from The Hospital, confused & bewildered.
The Investigators at The house are cleaning things up & trying to piece together What happened & why. Their voices are muted, but we can clearly hear what The ghosts are saying.
A new family moves in after several months of The house standing empty, where children break into it & have experiences with The Ghosts.
The New family senses that The house is haunted & priests & ghost hunters examine it.
Finally; Some The Family ghosts disappear.
The Father goes before The mother, who is The last to go.
She is still there; remaining glued to that spot, thousands of years in The Future where she is finally isolated & put inside a robot, receives psychiatric care & gets a job as a industrial robot where she assembles some incomprehensible product with unimaginable tedium.
forever.
